Pure

We are born pure. No opinion, no values, no norms and most importantly: no judgment, no fears and no hopes.  In a sense, we are born with absolute confidence as our absolute self, the most "self" we can be at that stage. Unchallenged. Free. Pure.

Then, at a certain age we are set free inside our first world.  We start to develop our first opinions, our first bonds with people and most importantly: our first image of self. But the image we have of ourselves and others are often not truly our own. They are influenced by others, by TV, by even the stories we were told before we ever left our cozy living rooms. And as we begin to start to explore even more worlds, our purity starts to dissipate and we behave like others want us to behave. We steal opinions and call them or own. We will follow patterns set by others who we deem successful. When the poison grows stronger, we even change our appearances and beliefs. Clinging to acceptance.

At this stage our purity is lost. It has already been struck by a grave poison. A poison called fear. And for the rest of our lives, we will try to return to the purest form of confidence. The confidence of an untouched child. But this time there is no blisfull emptyness, beautifull ignorance, or absolute freedom of judgement to make life simple and easy. There is only desire, doubt, fear, hope,  happiness and then the circle repeats.  And every time, each and every stage will hit you like a giant brick. Or a stone. Or finally a pebble.  You are getting stronger, you are building experience. The poison is getting weaker. Pebbles in the face won’t really hurt you, they are just annoying. You’ll be fine. You will survive.

But in the corner of the room you notice a little child. It’s smiling at your struggles: “Get on my level” is the message.  The pebble is not even reaching him. He is pure.
